old white people who make random conversation with you in public places are both awkward and endearing at the same time. like you feel a little embarrassed but they’re so pure despite the awkwardness of it.

examples include:

1) a man who saw my iced coffee in an elevator and told me it looked delicious and it was too bad I wouldn’t share, all while chuckling, then saying he’s too old to handle a cold caffeinated drink

2) a petite woman also in an elevator telling me to use my height for the powerful image it was and own my beauty and I??? (I’m 5′7 btw not even that tall)

3) a woman on the bus who told me my shoes looked really comfortable

4) a man in an airport who gave me life advice and told me to never date someone who disrespected my faith and beliefs

5) a man in a parking lot who asked if Eid was that day (it wasn’t) then proceeded to thank us for explaining to him when and what it was

tldr: they usually either comment on things you do that their age now hinders them from, or give you life advice

Op is so lucky. I always get creepy old men hitting on me and trying to feel me up. Or making weird incredibly sexist jokes if I’m with my partner

I’m so sorry to hear that :( hopefully from now on you get the sweet but awkward old white people who randomly compliment you
