Didn’t consent? Since when do we consent to a character showing mental illness and fighting his trauma and suffering? Like did you consent to Bucky being brainwashed or Natasha looking back at her past or Killmonger dealing with his anger/pain or…? And how did he dump all his trauma on Harley? Like I’m sorry but have you never met a child? They’re capable of being supportive and it’s not like Tony abused Harley or beat him up or hurt him to let out his trauma?

I don’t mean to hijack this post, but this needs saying, because I have seen this sort of thing everywhere, and not just online, and I know where this ends up irl.
As someone with PTSD, I would like to give a big fucking FUCK YOU, to everyone who says “oh, I didn’t consent to them showing that they have PTSD” because you know what?? THEY DIDN’T FUCKING CONSENT TO HAVING PTSD. NO ONE EVER CONSENTS TO HAVING PTSD, BUT NOW THEY HAVE IT, AND THEY NOW ALSO HAVE TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE WHO CONDEMN THEM FOR SOMETHING THIS ISN’T THEIR FAULT. CONDEMNED FOR A LIVING TORTURE THAT SOMEONE ELSE PUSHED ON THEM.
Now that doesn’t sound so good when I put it in plain words like that, now does it? When I say exactly what it is without pulling any punches. It almost makes people like that look like complete assholes—oh wait.
I don’t care if this is about a fictional character, because people who say this about fictional characters will treat real people with PTSD like that.FULL. FUCKING. OFFENSE.
If you don’t believe me, that’s your fucking problem, because I fucking live this and I have to put up with this fucking shit, so if you have something to say against me…FUCK OFF. Leaving you feeling helpless and broken, curled in a tight little ball wishing you could remember what ‘safe’ feels like because right now, safe isn’t a thing that exists. Flashbacks, nearly as clear as when they first happened, take over your entire mind. You try to remind yourself thats in the past, but it doesnt fucking feel like it. Its like youre getting re-traumatized all over again. Then youre exhausted from breaking down, and if youre like me and also have autism, well hope it doesnt trigger one of THOSE meltdowns or sensory issues…
RDJ did a fucking amazing job portraying this imo. I am very GRATEFUL for what he did. I’m fucking thankful that this brilliant man could bring attention to such a hard to describe condition in such a well done way.
